Trump blames Democrats for Central American migrant caravans

2018-10-20 18:16
President Donald Trump rounded on Democrats at a campaign rally in Mesa Arizona on Friday, accusing them of "open inviting" illegal aliens to "break our laws, violate our borders and overwhelm our nation." He told supporters the democrats did not want America to have a wall on its border with Mexico and referred to crimes which he said had been carried out by immigrants. Trump was speaking after members of a caravan of more than 3,000 migrants burst through a Guatemalan border fence and rushed onto the bridge over the Suchiate River, defying Mexican authorities' entreaties for an orderly crossing. He claimed that immigrants were desperate to get to the US because his policies had brought about a strong economy and created jobs. He said only migrants of "merit" would be allowed to enter the country.
