Pompeo Aims At CCP Influence In US Schools

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos warned about the Chinese Communist Party's influence in the U.S. education system. They wrote an open letter to state education commissioners. The letter warned about the potential harm of Confucius institutes at U.S. campuses, calling it part of the Chinese regime’s “global influence campaign”. They said it impacts “tens of thousands of U.S. school children every day.” “Confucius Classrooms are in reality an important element of the PRC’s global influence campaign, now reaching tens of thousands of U.S. schoolchildren every day.” Adding, the presence of an authoritarian slant in education has "never been more concerning, nor more consequential".
