Taiwan Mainland Affairs Minister: The Key to Cross-Strait Peace Lies in China's Democratization

At a Cross-Strait Relations conference in Washington, Taiwan's Minister of the Mainland Affairs Council, Chen Ming-tong, said the CCP's "one country, two systems" is intended to eliminate Taiwan—and Taiwan will never accept that. He called on Beijing to give up this political framework. He also pointed out that Taiwan is on the frontlines of the movement to end Chinese Communist Party hegemony in the region.
