Falun Dafa Introduction
This is Falun Dafa, also known as “Falun Gong”. It’s a spiritual practice based on a tradition that dates back more than a thousand years. It was once passed down only from teacher to disciple. In 1992, Mr. Li Hongzhi made Falun Gong public and began teaching it across China. Falun Gong is a type of qigong—a class of gentle exercises and meditation designed to improve mind and body. Other qigong systems, like Tai Chi, are also popular in China. But unlike most qigong taught in China today, Falun Gong emphasizes spiritual improvement. Its core principles are Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance—or Zhen, Shan, Ren in Chinese. Falun Gong practitioners study its teachings through published texts, especially the book “Zhuan Falun”. They aim to elevate their moral standards while supplementing their practice with five sets of physical exercises. Nine-day Falun Gong workshops are offered in cities around the world. The workshops introduce the main text and teach the exercises. Falun Gong workshops are always free of charge. Since its introduction 25 years ago, Falun Gong has spread to tens of millions of people in 114 countries and regions.
