PARKLAND SHOOTER NIKOLAS CRUZ ACCUSED IN JAIL ATTACK

Nikolas Cruz attacked a jail guard, punching him repeatedly, authorities in Florida said. Cruz is in jail awaiting trial for the mass shooting in Parkland in February that left 17 dead. He has now been charged with assault, battery, and using a taser against a law enforcement officer. The fight happened when Sgt. Raymond Beltran asked Cruz to stop dragging his sandals. Instead of listening, Cruz hurled himself at Beltran and began punching him. Beltran eventually took Cruz into custody. A union official said Beltran acted appropriately.
