The lightning fast collapse of the Afghan government has shocked the international community like a tsunami making landfall. As time passes, the devastation will grow in scope. Communist China will be one of the countries that is most affected, since Afghanistan is connected to China's Xinjiang province by the narrow Wakhan Corridor. China has accused religious extremism of being a destabilizing force in Xinjiang. China has long feared that areas controlled by the Taliban could become a hideout for rebellious Xinjiangers. But the CCP may not have the ability to control or confront the Taliban either. Although the current situation is an embarrassment to the United States, it will have far more significant impact on China and Russia.
