Cork St. Patrick's Day has been growing over many years and at this stage we have 3000 taking part in the parade and over 45,000 people who come to see the parade. The parade in Cork, we have a theme every year. This year our theme is celebrating 100 years of the vote for women and our Grand Marshals leading off the parade are representatives in our government over the last hundred years. Where they are deceased we have family members representing them. Cork is Ireland's second city so it is in the south at the very bottom of Ireland which is an island. It has a huge tradition as a port city and that is how it made it's fortune and how it made it's fame. Along with that the St Patricks Day Parade in Cork is an opportunity for the many, many groups who live and work in Cork to come out on to the street and celebrate what they do in front of the whole citizenship. So we have groups that include: The Oriental Society in U.C.C (University College Cork). We have got The Congolese Society The Mexican Society, The Filipino Society. We have got Rebel Wheelers who are a group of group that look at cycling with disabled children. We have got a whole huge range of groups as well of course as a lot of music. They also have specially commissioned pieces with a range of arts groups and they will all look to interpret the theme. Well we are delighted to see Falun Dafa take part in the parade this year. It's as i said we really like as many different groups as we have in Cork. It's an opportunity for groups to promote themselves to introduce themselves to the wider citizenship and to let people know what they do and that's why it's great that Falun Dafa are here today.
