Cappadocia, a semi-arid region in central Turkey, is known for its distinctive โfairy chimneys,โ tall, cone-shaped rock formations clustered in Monks Valley, Gรถreme and elsewhere. Other notables sites include Bronze Age homes carved into valley walls by troglodytes (cave dwellers) and later used as refuges by early Christians. The 100m-deep Ihlara Canyon houses numerous rock-face churches.
Cappadocia (Turkish: Kapadokya) is an area in Central Anatolia in Turkey best known for its unique moon-like landscape, underground cities, cave churches and houses carved in the rocks.
Without a doubt, it is worth a trip to Cappadocia. The place is like no-where else on earth. Main attractions to see include the Goreme cave churches, and the underground cities but part of the fun is staying in an authentic cave hotel
