Kavanaugh Delivers Passionate Defense of Character, Again Asserts Innocence

2018-09-28 03:06
Judge Brett Kavanaugh, seeking to salvage his nomination for the U.S. Supreme Court, appeared on September 27 at an extraordinary senate judiciary hearing to defend himself against sexual assault allegations. Calling himself a victim of "grotesque and obvious character assassination," Kavanaugh, speaking passionately, said he "unequivocally and categorically" denied Ford's allegation. Kavanaugh at times held back tears, especially when he mentioned that his daughter suggested that they pray for his accuser, university professor Christine Blasey Ford. The momentous hearing could determine whether Kavanaugh will be confirmed by the Senate after a pitched political battle between Trump's fellow Republicans and Democrats who oppose the nominee.
