Hundreds of Villagers Welcome Back Hero Released From Prison

Zhang Peng, a resident of Leizhou City in Guangdong Province, is hailed as an anti-corruption hero, but was incarcerated in prison for nearly two years. On July 7, hundreds of his fellow villagers went to the prison to celebrate his release. Zhang reported to the Leizhou government multiple times that local officials have embezzled a huge portion of poverty relief funds. As there was no response, he then went to Beijing to appeal, but ended up in prison for his brave actions.
