Scientists fly into eye of Hurricane Lane

NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) meteorologist Lisa Bucci filmed the eye of Hurricane Lane on Tuesday (August 21) during a mission to 'intercept' the storm, local media reported. Bucci posted a word of caution accompanying the video on her Twitter post. "It's a strong and dangerous storm- make sure to listen to your community's emergency managers and stay prepared and safe," wrote Bucci. The powerful hurricane, now downgraded to a category 4 hurricane, packing heavy rains and potentially devastating winds was headed toward Hawaii on Wednesday (August 22), and U.S. forecasters warned the storm could be the most powerful to hit the Big Island in recorded history.
