A fire at a chemical plant in Duson, Louisiana, on May 3, shut down Interstate 10 westbound, with explosions reported and churning flames visible to motorists, according to a local report quoting police. The west side of Mire Highway, from I-10 to Solder Road, was being evacuated, KATC reported. No injuries had been reported. Officials said they were awaiting an assessment by a hazardous materials team before disclosing further details.
