Team to skip events with ref who told wrestler to cut dreads

Buena Regional School District Superintendent David C. Cappuccio Jr.: "We have viewed the video footage that has gone viral and are deeply troubled by the embarrassment and humiliation that our young student athlete endured. The NJSIAA is conducting its investigation relative to the referee's conduct as well as his interpretation of the rules administered during the evening of the wrestling match. As I previously reported, I've informed the NJSIAA that our school district and its athletic teams will not compete in any contest officiated by this referee from this point forward." Dominic Speziali / Attorney: "The blame here is on the referee. This situation was caused, and- and- and- and- the situation that - the burden that Andrew had to carry was caused by the referee and caused by the entities that allowed him to be in that position. I was tasked with the family to find out why this happened here. It's still not clear to me why that had to happen in that manner to Andrew."
