Photo Emerges Of Georgia's Dem Governor Nominee Burning State Flag

York Du
A picture shows the Democratic gubernatorial candidate for Georgia burning the state’s flag. Stacey Abrams admitted to burning the flag on the steps of the state’s Capitol in June 1992. She was a freshman at Atlanta’s Spelman College. “We’re going to send Georgia’s racist past up in flames,” a student said. “Burn, baby, burn!” Abrams’ campaign defended the burning as helping “overcome racially divisive issues.” Georgia’s previous flag included Confederate symbols. The state adopted a new flag in 2003.
