Chinese Regime’s 610 Office Continues to Persecute Falun Gong Practitioners

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) established the 610 Office to clamp down on dissent and persecute religious minorities. The Epoch Times recently published an infographic of the 610 Office, exposing its crimes of persecuting the spiritual practice Falun Gong for the past 21 years. The 610 Office, formally known as the Central Leading Group on Preventing and Dealing with Heretical Religions, is a powerful and notorious agency that is similar to Nazi Germany’s Gestapo. It was established by the-then Party leader Jiang Zemin on July 10, 1999 to persecute and eradicate Falun Gong. Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a traditional Chinese spiritual practice which consists of simple, slow-moving exercises and a meditation, with moral teachings based on the principles of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance. Under the leadership of the 610 Office, Falun Gong practitioners have been arbitrarily sentenced to labor camps, prison, or brainwashing centers. There are about 1,000 610 Offices at all levels in provinces, cities, municipalities, autonomous regions, and neighborhoods in China, according to a report by the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG). This formed an independent and rigorous operating system from central to local authority that controls all levels of public security, procuratorate, courts, justice department system, military police, foreign affairs, education, propaganda, and medical services. With powers beyond those of the political and judicial authorities, the 610 Office can assess Party committees and governmental agencies of the same level, as well as observe and monitor court trials, monitor and control citizens, and carry out crimes like genocide against Falun Gong.
