White House Extends Safe Haven for Hong Kongers in US

Capitol Report
Capitol Report
President Joe Biden is extending a program that protects Hong Kong residents in the United States from deportation. He signed off on a two-year extension to the program. The White House National Security Council said in a statement “With this action, we are demonstrating again President Biden’s strong support for the people of Hong Kong in the face of increasing repression by the PRC." Biden first authorized the protection program 18 months ago, and it was set to expire in February.
