Tensions are rising again as unrest continues in the Afghan capital. But U.S. forces have also begun an aggressive counterattack. Over the weekend, they killed several suicide bombers and senior Islamic State members, and successfully intercepted rockets fired at the airport. The U.S. military is the best-equipped and best-trained in the world, and with proper command, the situation can be easily controlled. As the deadline for U.S. troop withdrawal approaches, there are still some Afghans who may not ultimately be able to leave. In a last-minute move, nearly 100 countries have joined together to announce that the Taliban have pledged to continue to allow foreigners and Afghans with foreign travel documents to leave the country in a "safe and orderly" manner after U.S. forces complete their withdrawal on Aug. 31.
