A Dallas police officer has been charged with manslaughter. The Texas Rangers arrested Amber Guyger, 30, over the shooting of Botham Jean, 26. Guyger was later released on $300,000 bond. Officials said Guyger mistakenly entered Jean’s apartment on Sept. 6. She shot him in the dark but when she flipped on a light she realized she wasn’t in her apartment. She lives on the third floor while Jean’s apartment is on the fourth floor. After shooting Jean, Guyger called 911. Emergency responders took Jean to a hospital, but he was pronounced dead. The Texas Rangers conducted an investigation. Guyger will be presented to a grand jury, said the district attorney overseeing the case. The grand jury could decide on more serious charges than manslaughter.
