GA, TX: Early Voting Lines Wrap Buildings

As early as 4 a.m., on the first day of early voting, Monday Georgians started lining up to cast their ballots. Around 128,000 voted on the first day- according to local media, that's a higher first day voter turnout than any previous election in the state. Georgia has become a battleground state this year. With both of its senate seats up for grabs, it's one of the 8 key races that has potential to tip the senate to a democratic majority. Republican presidents have won Georgia every year since 1996. Trump won just 200 thousand more Georgia votes than Clinton last election- a 5% difference. And a strong voter turn out in the blue areas has potential to give Biden a win this year. In 2016, voters in the state's highest populated city, the Atlanta capital, voted overwhelmingly in Clinton's favor. Jill Biden visited Atlanta on Monday. Trump already went there on his campaign trail, and now he's going back again this weekend to to visit the south side of the state. And in Texas voters waited in lines for hours to cast their ballots. The state also flipped red around the year time as Georgia did, and it's considered a key senate race to watch this election too. Texas election officials are preparing for a massive voter turn out. Local media reports that there are close to 2 million more Texans registered to vote this year compared to 2016.
