Escalation of Human Rights Violations in the 21st century: Finding solutions to help combat crimes against humanity Side-event to the Human Rights Council 49th Session Organized by CAP Liberté de Conscience (ECOSOC since 2016) and co-organized by DAFOH (Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting) Date 23 March 2022 We have learned that egregious crimes such as forced organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners has occurred for over two decades in the People’s Republic of China. Irrefutable evidence has been gathered and led to a unanimous judgement. The international community appears to be overwhelmed in the handling of crimes against humanity to the extent that the values of our civilization are at stake. Humankind has to decide if it accepts or rejects the killing of human beings for forced organ harvesting or other exploitations. Attempts were made to come together, gather evidence and raise our conscience: In 2019 the China Tribunal chaired by Sir Geoffrey Nice evaluated evidence and witnesses independently and suggested to the international community next steps to stop this abuse. On June 14, 2021, the United Nations published a statement co-signed by 12 UN Special Rapporteurs and experts, reflecting concerns about forced organ harvesting. The UN human rights experts were alarmed by reports of alleged ‘organ harvesting’ targeting various minorities, including Falun Gong practitioners, Uyghurs, Tibetans, Muslims and Christians, in China. The experts called on China to respond to the allegations of ‘organ harvesting’ and to allow independent monitoring by international human rights mechanisms.
In September 2021, a coalition of NGOs organized the World Summit on Combating and Preventing Forced Organ Harvesting during which Lord Philip Hunt, UK, described the forced organ harvesting as “commercialized murder and without doubt, among the worst of crimes”. A Universal Declaration on Combating and Preventing Forced Organ Harvesting has been launched. Without a doubt, initiatives from within our human civilization are calling for measures to end the crime of forced organ harvesting. Objective
 We now propose to come together at this side event during the 49th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva to discuss next steps and solutions in order to stop this crime against humanity. Format
 The event will be a live round table discussion followed by a Q&A session.
