Woodturning: The Burl Galaxy!

Adamsen Woodcraft
Another burl too weird to get by without using resin, and this time I decided to aim for a purple-ish starry night type of color scheme. I am still learning how the color pigments react with one another and with the different long-cure-time epoxies from Total Boat, but this time I definitely overdid the black pigment because the purple was almost drowned out in the end. Ultimately, I do prefer subtle colors to bright and bold colors, as I think muted colors tend to let the wood speak for itself, complementing the natural colors rather than competing with them. It was unfortunate to have lost so much of the gorgeous burl in the process, but I focused primarily on refining the curve of the piece and removing any saw marks or unnatural edges from the final shape. Let me know what you think of this piece and whether you would like to see more hybrid projects like this one. Also, let me know in the comments what epoxy colors you think best complement the natural wood. I cannot always respond to every comment, but I make time to read each one. Thanks to Total Boat for the thickset fathom epoxy! This stuff worked wonders and did not crack, even though I poured over 2 liters of resin and an 8 inch pour. As usual, the Starbond CA glue (discount/affiliate link below) came in handy with filling the stress cracks and voids in this burl. Frogblanks.com has generously provided a 15% discount (not combinable with other offers) if you use code "YT-DAVID". Use that code and it will help me out too!
