The nerve endings under your top layer of skin, or epidermis, send electrical signals to the brain when you're tickled. The somatosensory cortex picks up the signals to do with pressure, but the anterior cingulated cortex also analyses the signals. This part of the brain governs pleasurable feelings. We all know how it feels to be tickled without your consent and for an unbearable amount of time. Now imagine what would happen if you were being tickled without stopping? How long until you faint?
