We take a closer look at the new law in New York City that allows non-citizens to vote in city elections starting January of next year. Recently the city board of elections contacted its state-level counterpart seeking a review to determine whether the law is legal. Prior to this, a group of Republicans filed a lawsuit to block the law, arguing it is illegal. And while some immigration advocates say it’s a step in the right direction, others say it will cause tougher laws against immigrants in other parts of the country. NTD hears from Hans von Spakovsky who is an election law reform scholar. He gives us his perspective on the constitutionality of the law.
