China’s Birth Rate Lowest in 43 Years: Data

The birth rate is falling in most industrialized countries, but China's the most marked. Birth rates there have dipped to their lowest level in more than four decades. Despite the authorities' efforts to encourage a baby boom, most Chinese people want fewer marriages and fewer babies.
