Peace talks between Ukraine and Russia have begun, with Kyiv asking for an immediate ceasefire and withdrawal of Russian troops. As the fighting continues, the United Nations says at least 100 Ukrainian civilians have lost their lives. President Vladimir Putin calls the West an "Empire of Lies," and the Kremlin says he ordered Russia’s nuclear deterrent on high alert after “absolutely unacceptable” remarks by Foreign Secretary Liz Truss. The government announces immediate family members can join Ukrainians settled in the UK without having to pay for a visa. Defence Secretary Ben Wallace says the measure is just the “first step” in helping Ukrainian refugees.
