Akron Mayor Sets Curfew, Closes Airport

NTD News
NTD News
The protests for Jayland Walker became violent Sunday night. According to the Akron Beacon Journal, protesters threw objects at the Harold K Stubbs Justice center and broke the windows of snowplows the city had parked to block off the street. The protesters also reportedly threw smoke bombs into the streets and set two dumpsters on fire. In response, Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan declared a state of emergency and implemented a curfew. It will remain in place for downtown Akron between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. until further notice. The mayor also canceled the city’s fireworks show for July 4 and shut down Akron Fulton Airport.
