New York’s AG to Look into Weinstein Case that Manhattan DA Dropped

Vivian Lan
New York’s Attorney General is investigating Manhattan’s DA over Harvey Weinstein. The New York Daily News cited an anonymous source as saying that AG Eric Schneiderman is set to appoint a special deputy to look into Cyrus Vance Jr.’s investigation into Weinstein. In 2015, Italian model Battilana Gutierrez told the NYPD that Weinstein had groped her. The next day, she recorded Weinstein talking about the alleged groping. Vance Jr. decided not to prosecute Weinstein over the allegations. He said there wasn’t enough evidence. Lawyers for Weinstein have made political donations to Vance Jr. In March, Gov. Andrew Cuomo asked Schneiderman to review the case. Vance Jr.’s spokesperson said they would comply with the AG’s investigation.
