Prime Minister Boris Johnson has decided to cut 90,000 civil service jobs and the billions saved could be used for tax cuts. Minister for government efficiency Jacob Rees-Mogg says that means civil service job numbers will fall back to the level of 2016 and some posts emptied will not be refilled. But unions are furious and threatening to have a national strike.
