Copperplate Script - Daily Practice

PAScribe
PAScribe
Daily Practice today was about heightened attention. What are you focusing on in your practise? This is MY practise. I already know the letters and so I am concentrating on issues I have with my writing. My aim is to write lighter and use less ink whilst still allowing the letters to look like Copperplate Script. The full set of Majuscules was written with one dip of the nib in the ink. Writing seems to generate tension in the hand and I am very conscious of this. Lightness in the strokes also tell the hand to write bigger. So confining the shapes to the base and cap height is important but being aware of that tension is, I feel, the MOST important thing to curtail injury and damage to the hand. Today’s practise really made me aware of writing lighter and more carefully with the understanding of how to stop tension as soon as I feel it and not think ‘oh, I’ll just finish this letter first’ this only trains you how to keep suffering. I hope these practice sessions are helping you in your practise. Tools - PAScribe Lining Template. Bleedproof White. Gillott 303 nib. Pentel .3 HB lead.
