China Using Highest-Level Censorship Following Widespread Protests

China has activated its highest, “emergency response” level censorship response, according to a leaked notice. The leaked notice was first published by a Twitter user under the name, Li Laoshi, a well known aggregator of protest-related information from China. It was reportedly issued following a November meeting at the Cyberspace Administration of China. Chinese Communist Party officials ordered online platforms to initiate “Level one Internet Emergency Response."
