Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance, Jr. announces Takedown in Construction Management bribery and corruption case

Vivian Lan
On April 18, Manhattan’s District Attorney announced the indictment of 9 firms   and 13 individuals for schemes of bribery, fraud, and political campaign contributions. The DA says leading construction management companies bribed a mid-level government employee for confidential information. They allegedly used that information to get lucrative government contracts. Cyrus Vance Jr., Manhattan District Attorney: “And by a mid-level DEP employee, whose links and illegal sharing of confidential information enabled hundreds of millions of dollars in fraud.” The alleged crimes happened between 2007 and 2016. Manny Madu, a manager at the New York City DEP, was the government employee indicted. Cyrus Vance Jr., Manhattan District Attorney: “Broadway show tickets, extravagant meals, travel and luxury hotel accommodation. But more significantly, the defendants rewarded Madu with more than $7.5 million in subcontracts. And they did this by breaking off smaller jobs and giving them to companies that they knew were secretly controlled by Madu.” ============================================================== NTD reporter Vivian Li, Oliver Trey reporting in New York
