She says there could be more that Beijing seeks than just peace in Ukraine—that China could be trying to elevate its image on the world stage. On the other hand, she also questions whether Xi genuinely wants the war to end, because it provides him an opportunity to invade Taiwan. With the ongoing war in Ukraine, the United States may not have the resources to get involved if China invades Taiwan.
