Woodturning: Hawaiian Koa Bird's Mouth

Adamsen Woodcraft
Thank you to all my subscribers! So many of you have joined since my last video, which was a giveaway. Please refer to my latest YouTube Community post to see who the winner is! This is my 20th filmed project! I have been staring at that piece of Hawaiian Koa for the past year, unsure what to do with it because of its oddly weird and off-center shape. I hope I did justice to the beautiful wood. I figured it would be appropriate to try to keep as much of the pith as possible, since it seemed stable. The piece of wood itself was aged 15 years before being milled about 1 year ago. So if it wasn't a stable pith, I'm sure it would have split. Since the project was done, the pith has not moved. However, there was quite an interesting knot that made hollowing to equal wall thickness almost impossible, inspite of the fact that I broke in my new gigantic hollower. I hope you all enjoyed this project! I look forward to trying some new techniques and skills pretty soon! Cheers to all and have a blessed day!
