The debt ceiling bill brokered by President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) cleared its last procedural hurdle on May 31, paving the way for an up-or-down vote on the measure by the full House. The House approved a rule to limit debate on the bill and bar any amendments to the bill in a bipartisan vote of 241 to 187. Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is expected to announced his bid for the White House next Tuesday. Former Vice President Mike Pence is also expected to launch his 2024 presidential campaign on June 7 with an announcement video and a speech in Iowa, according to media reports. During a phone call, FBI Director Christopher Wray offered to let House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer privately view an internal law enforcement document that Republicans believe will shed light on Biden's alleged bribery scheme. Project Veritas sued its founder James O’Keefe following his ouster from the journalism group.
