White House Responded To Putin’s 'Invincible' Missile Threat

Smira Bouaou
At the press briefing on Mar. 1, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders answered a question on President Vladimir Putin’s controversial remarks about use of nuclear weapons. Earlier in the day, Putin said Moscow would regard nuclear attack on allies as attack on Russia and would immediately respond. Putin claimed that Moscow had tested a range of new nuclear weapons, including a new supersonic cruise missile, which could reach almost anywhere in the world and could not be stopped by NATO defense systems. “President Putin has confirmed what the United States government has known all along, which Russia has denied,” Sanders told reporters. “Russia has been developing destabilizing weapons systems for over a decade in direct violations of its treaty obligations.” The United States will continue to modernize its nuclear arsenal and ensure its capabilities remain “unmatched,” she said.
