NRA leader-US must harden "wide open target" schools

The leader of the National Rifle Association says supporters of gun control are exploiting the school shooting in Florida to promote an anti-gun agenda. NRA chief Wayne LaPierre says opponents of gun rights "hate individual freedoms" and want to eliminate the 2nd Amendment. LaPierre spoke at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland. He says Democrats like House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of California and Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy are eager to blame the NRA and are calling "for even more government control." LaPierre says the answer to increasing safety in schools is to heighten the security presence to the levels of federal buildings and sports games. "To stop a bad guy with a gun, it takes a good guy with a gun," he says. Credit: AP
