Former Labor leader says need to recast human rights framework

Kuting Feng
Former Labor leader Mark Latham spoke at a National Civic Council event to call for unity. This is a time that's intensely troubled for our children, our grandchildren, our values and our civilization. The principles of the enlightenment are being rolled back. We need to forget about past differences and unite traditional social democrats with conservatives with Christians with patriots with nationalists. There used to be a time where if one person lost their rights, if one person was badly treated by the state, if one person was rubbed out by government... we'd all man the barricades, we'd all jump in the trenches and fight for that one person.
