Mendocino Complex Fire roars past 300,000 acres, but containment grows

Firefighters are struggling to contain one of the largest wildfires in California state history. The Mendocino Complex Fire consists of two wildfires burning side by side. More than 300 thousand acres had been scorched by Aug. 8. Nearly 4,000 firefighters are battling the blaze. Their efforts have brought the fire to 47 percent containment.
