Airbus and Boeing announce more than $10 billion worth of deals at the Farnborough Airshow

2018-07-16 22:44
Planemakers racked up over $20 billion in deals on the opening day of the Farnborough Air Show. Boeing said DHL had placed a $4.7 billion order for 14,777 freighters. It also landed a $3.5 billion deal for 30 737 MAX 8 aircraft with U.S. Jackson Square Aviation. Airbus announced a MoU with Taiwanese StarLux Airlines to buy 17 A350 worth around $6 billion, and another MoU for 80 A320neo single-aisle jets worth about $8.8 billion. Concerns that demand may slow stem from higher oil prices, rising interest rates, and Brexit uncertainty. The Farnborough Air Show is the industry's biggest event this year.
