Russian ice swimmers make a splash in sub zero temperatures

Aurora Li
Ice swimmers in Russia's Baltic Sea enclave of Kaliningrad embraced freezing temperatures to compete in minus 10 degree Celsius temperature in an outdoor pool over the weekend (February 24 and 25). Seventy-three people as young as 11 and as old as 70 participated, whilst dozens of spectators watched and kept warm dancing and cheering in the sidelines. Mulled wine was also at hand to ward of the chill factor. Ice swimming is not uncommon in Russia and there are many clubs catering to the winter sport as it is widely regarded as a way to improve one's health. Credit:Core News Via Reuters
