The brother of murdered Spanish golfer Celia Barquin Arozamena on Tuesday said her family were all "very affected" by her death.
Andres Barquin spoke to journalists outside the family home in the village of Puente San Miguel, in northern Spain.
His sister's body was found on Monday at a golf course in the US state of Iowa, where she was a university student.
A homeless man was detained on suspicion of killing her and charged with first-degree murder.
Residents in Puente San Miguel were shocked by the death of the top amateur golfer and observed a moment's silence on Tuesday.
Barquin was the 2018 Big 12 champion and Iowa State University's Female Athlete of the Year.
The university said she was finishing her civil engineering degree this semester.
