Elvis Costello cancels tour, cities cancerous growth
British singer-songwriter Elvis Costello canceled
the remainder of his European tour on July 6.
He revealed he had undergone surgery for cancer.
Costello, 63, said he had been forced
to call off the final six dates of his tour.
His doctor advised him to take a break and rest.
[Singer-songwriter, Elvis Costello]
The spirit has been more than willing
but I have to now accept that it is going
to take longer than I would have wished
for me to recover my full strength.
Therefore, I must reluctantly cancel
all the remaining engagements of this tour.
Costello rose to fame in the 1970s
and produced a string of influential albums.
He was slated to perform in Britain, Croatia,
Austria, Norway, and Sweden.
