Cow That Escaped Trip to New Jersey Abattoir Gives Birth to Healthy Calf A cow that jumped from a truck that was heading to a New Jersey slaughterhouse on December 27 gave birth to a healthy female calf, with the help of an animal sanctuary that rescued her from the highway. Skylands Animal Sanctuary and Rescue shared video of the cow, named Brianna, delivering her calf on December 29. The sanctuary wrote that Brianna was less than 10 minutes away “from that slaughterhouse when she flew out of the truck,” adding, “she and her unborn baby would have been needlessly killed.” The calf, named Winter, is safe and well with her mom at the sanctuary.
