George HW Bush: A Look Back on the Former US President's Legacy

Mark Liu
The 41st President of the United States, George HW Bush, has died at the age of 94. He passed away overnight in Houston after several months of declining health. His death comes several months after his wife Barbara's passing at age 92. Former president Bush is remembered as a public servant and statesman, a WWII combat pilot whose plane was shot down, and a dedicated family man. CNN's special correspondent, Jamie Gangel, sat down with some of the Bush family members to talk about their father and grandfather's legacy. "My dad is just the kindest person. He's been an extraordinary role model," Jeb Bush, son of the late Bush told CNN. "If everybody was like George Herbert Walker Bush and trying to find the best in others and trying to lift other people up, just in personal relationships the world would be a way better place than it is today," Neil Bush, younger son of the late Bush told CNN. During George HW Bush's term as the 41st US president, between the years 1989 and 1993, his term was defined by the end of the Cold War with the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the first Iraq war against Saddam Hussein. Gangel asks the late Bush's sons and grandsons: "Best advice he ever gave you?" George P. Bush, grandson, said: "Best advice is to follow my passion, whether it was in politics, whether it was to pursue my dream to be a Major League baseball player, which was ultimately unsuccessful, or just to be a great father and a great, great husband." "So he's been a great kind of role model for how to how to live your life to the end with grace and dignity and calmness and peace and caring for others," Neil Bush, said. "I think we'll remember him as the embodiment, the human embodiment of love. It's just an incredible loving human being," Pierce Bush, grandson, told CNN, tearing up slightly.
