Motorcyclists Block Jakarta Flyover in a Bid to Avoid Traffic Fines

2018-02-28 10:44
Scores of motorcyclists formed a huge blockade on a flyover in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Tuesday, February 27, in a bid to avoid being fined by police for driving on the road. In this video captured by eyewitness Henu Akbar, the bikers can be seen sitting stationary on the Jalan Layang Non Tol flyover. They deliberately stopped traffic because of a police road check ahead, according to Coconuts Jakarta. Motorcyclists have been banned from traveling on the flyover for safety reasons but some ignore this in order to reduce their commute, the report said. On February 27, police fined 75 motorcyclists on the flyover but some successfully fled the scene without a penalty, according to local news website Beritasatu.com. Credit: Henu Akbar via Storyful
