Residents of Queenstown, New Zealand, awoke on May 24 to wintry conditions after icy winds blowing from Antarctica swept over the country overnight.
Temperatures dropped below freezing on the South Island on Thursday, resulting in road closures and disrupted flights at Queenstown airport, according to local reports.
