"I'm Scot Peterson. I've been a police officer for 30 years, I've been a school resource officer for 25 years” Video footage has surfaced of an armed officer being present at the deadly shooting in Florida but doing nothing to stop the shooter.  17 people were killed by a former student. The shooting lasted about six minutes. Sheriff Scott Israel, Broward County Sheriff's Office: “What I saw was, a deputy arrived at the west side of building 12, take up a position and he never went in." The officer, Scot Peterson, was suspended without pay and placed under investigation. He then chose to resign. The local community is grappling with word that Peterson did nothing to stop the shooter. President Donald Trump also criticized Peterson’s inaction. “He was there for five minutes, for five minutes. That was during the entire shooting, he heard it right at the beginning. So he certainly did a poor job. But that's a case where somebody was outside, they're trained, they didn't react properly under pressure or they were cowards. It was a real shock to the police department." The high school where the shooting occurred reopened on Feb. 23. Credit: AP
