(Reuters) Residents fled their homes after a huge sinkhole opened up in Rome swallowing several cars on Wednesday, Feb 14.
Emergency services shared videos through social media on Thursday (February 15) showing their crew assessing the cavity in the area of Baldunia. Construction work had been carried out near the collapse.
Local media reported two people were being questioned. The pair are legal representatives for the land owners as well as the company responsible for the construction site.
Police have closed the area in the northwestern neighborhood of the Italian capital but no injuries were reported. Several families have been evacuated from their homes amid ongoing safety checks.
