Recently, police in Hong Kong issued arrest warrants for six pro-democracy activists who fled Hong Kong, including one U.S. citizen. This is the first time Beijing used the National Security Law to suppress activists who are physically overseas. Experts believe that Beijing fears international pressure and if Beijing is trying to intimidate Hong Kongers overseas with arrest warrants, it may backfire on them.
