The Weather is So Bad in the UK a Woman's Car Had Icy Double-Glazing

2018-03-02 15:40
Imagine cracking the window on your car to discover there’s another window on the outside. That’s what happened to Leanne Bingham during the icy weather caused by the so-called Beast from the East. She tweeted a video, which you can view above, in which she opens the window of her car to reveal a sheet of ice that has formed on the outside, like double-glazing. She tweeted, “I’m inside an ice block”. The weather has so far been hugely disruptive in the UK, with many motorists stranded, schools closed, trains cancelled, and planes grounded. The army had to be called in to help rescue hundreds of drivers stuck in the snow and to transport National Health Service workers. In Cornwall, a 7-year-old girl was killed after a car crashed into a house in the icy conditions, according to the BBC. The Met Office issued a very rare red warning, indicating that the weather poses a risk to life. “In the current bad weather, I want to say thank you to everyone going the extra mile to keep our country moving—and to keep us safe,” British Prime Minister Theresa May said, reported Reuters. “Thank you to NHS staff and care workers, the police and the armed forces, and all those working to keep our vital public services going,” May said.
